Maintaining a balance in your life is extremely important, which is why young hockey players today need to be thinking about a career after they have achieved all of their hockey goals and aspirations.
Midlands Hockey is extremely fortunate to have a large number of tertiary institutions that can help our young athletes to achieve this balance through higher education. Even better than this is the fact that many offer scholarships to talented young sports people, which will certainly ease the burden of tertiary fees and expenses.
If you are a talented young hockey player take a look at the tertiary institutions within the Midlands region. The level of hockey coaching and high performance development will be second to none in Midlands and you will be able to develop your hockey ability whilst studying a career of your choice.
Two current Black Sticks Blair Hopping and Casey Henwood are both graduates from The University of Waikato, which allowed them to study and play forĀ the Midlands NHL team. Inevitably, this lead to their Black Sticks selection.
